On Playing Small

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of use, it is in everyone. And s we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

On Service and Faith

If you pray you will have faith,
And if you have faith
You will want to serve.
Faith in action is service.
The fruit of love is service.
And the fruit of service is peace.
All of us should work for peace.

On Human Rights

On the Oneness of Humanity

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,

There is a field. I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,

The world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other”

Doesn’t make any sense.

Life

Life’s a fragile blossom, blowing in the wind…

No one knows its coming,

No one knows its end.

Too quick to pass up the best it has,

Too long to live regrets,

Life is only as good as the love that’s made to last.

To find one who's true through time

Is the best that one can do.

For when all is said and done and

Life has passed away,

The only thing that really counts is the

Love that was made to stay.

Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and attend them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
Who violently sweep your house
Empty of its furniture, still,
Treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some
New delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
Meet them at the door laughing,
And invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
Because each has been sent
As a guide from beyond.

Welcome difficulty.
Learn the alchemy True Human Beings know:
The moment you accept what troubles
You’ve been given, the door opens. . .

We are Beloved Sons and Daughters
Of God and our thoughts and feelings
Are empowered by creative energy.
By holding this in remembrance and
Living out of this awareness, we can
Affect what is manifesting in our lives
Here on earth. Together, we can align
with our new destiny.

Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.

Everything you are against, weakens you. Everything you are for, empowers you.

Chinese Farmer Parable on Detaching from Outcome

Once there was a Chinese farmer who worked his poor farm together with his son and their horse. When the horse ran off one day, neighbors came to say, “How unfortunate for you!”

The farmer replied, “Maybe yes, maybe no.” When the horse returned, followed by a herd of wild horses, the neighbors gathered around and exclaimed, “What good luck for you!”

The farmer stayed calm and replied, “Maybe yes, maybe no.”

While trying to tame one of wild horses, the farmer’s son fell, and broke his leg. He had to rest up and couldn’t help with the farm chores. “How sad for you,” the neighbors cried.

“Maybe yes, maybe no,” said the farmer.

Shortly thereafter, a neighboring army threatened the farmer’s village. All the young men in the village were drafted to fight the invaders. Many died. But the farmer’s son had been left out of the fighting because of his broken leg. People said to the farmer, “What a good thing your son couldn’t fight!”

“Maybe yes, maybe no,” was all the farmer said.

On Living Your Truth and Power

Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all – young and old, rich and poor, good and evil. The current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.

Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life and resisting the current what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”

The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool! Let go and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks and you will die quicker than boredom!”

But the one heeded them not and taking a breath did let go and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current against the rocks.

Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger cried, See a miracle! A creature like ourselves yet he flies! See the Messiah, come to save us all!

And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more Messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free if you only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.

There are many people who can do big things, but there are very few people who will do the small things.

On God ~ For We Are Deeply God

Down through starry corridors of light, we came, and entered in through shining portals
To this realm…Star clad, we left our robes behind to be of form and substance born. Blessed and sweet was the song our Mother sang that called us to her in our innocence; for we are deeply God, And would know the Allness of our Being, would walk the ways of earthen ones and feel the dust upon our earthen feet…We would sing the ancient songs sung of the silence long before the world began, voiceless prayers of light eternal and sublime, and dream ancient dreams of Being beyond space and time…

I rise up and dance the star waves and wonder that I exist but know only that I am, forever that I am…This alone is known: God is, I AM. All else is transparent as the
Gossamer veils of light between the worlds.

The sun is shining somewhere so let it warm your heart and mind to know there is loving light smiling on us. The world is a wondrous place. We pick and choose when and where the wonders will be revealed. We are a gift from the creator, to be loved, and to give love back to the creator. We are never smaller or larger than the sum of creation.
